It happens in London. Earlier this year O2 began trials of mobile phone based NFC (Near Field Communication) which if you’re unaware, is the same technology used by the London-based Oyster cards that allows you to pay for things by waving a device in front of a scanner.

Declaring the trial a success, O2 said 90% of trialists were happy with the wireless payment tech, while 78% would use more contactless services if they were available.

Seems I heard that one big GSM Provider company in Indonesia has dalready made a trial to do that, but no further info about the projects it self.

But Anyway This system has been in use in Japan for a number of years now. They even use it to pay for food and drink from vending machines. … LOL Should we learn form them?
